Interior walls made of plasterboard
Many people, moving into a recently purchased house or apartment, want to change the interior of their new home. For those who are not satisfied with the layout, lightweight plasterboard partitions come to the rescue. Interior walls made of plasterboard are the European way.
Internal walls made of plasterboard are thin and lightweight. Plasterboard panels are installed in special profiles using fasteners. The profiles can be made of metal or wood. To improve the soundproofing of walls of this type, insulating materials can be used, laid between two layers of plasterboard.
Internal plasterboard walls - European marking
There are dozens of plasterboard-based internal partition systems on the European market, manufactured by various companies and firms. When choosing a particular system, it is worth knowing what the plasterboard wall markings mean. According to European standards BS EN 520, the main types of plasterboard are:

A – plasterboard that can be plastered and painted;
H – gypsum board with low water absorption (H1 – water absorption 5 %, H2 – 10%, H3 – 25%);
F — plasterboard with increased resistance to high temperatures;
E – plasterboard suitable for use as external walls;
R — plasterboard with increased strength and bending resistance;
I — plasterboard with increased surface hardness.
Naturally, the quality of the interior wall is affected not only by the indicators of the plasterboard itself, but also by the quality of the profiles on which it will be installed. Metal profiles must be made of stainless or galvanized steel. It is characteristic that the rigidity of corrugated profiles on 50% is higher than the rigidity of conventional profiles. This, in turn, reduces the risk of cracks in the walls.
