Tadelakt
Tadelakt - this exotic name actually hides a completely traditional plaster with a velvety shine and a smooth surface, which first appeared in Morocco, or more precisely in the Marrakesh region.
Tadelakt is a very attractive, decorative way of finishing walls. In recent years it has become fashionable in Europe, and, consequently, here too.
Tadelakt - what is it?
Tadelakt - in Arabic means "to pamper", "to polish". In essence, it is a mineral plaster based on lime. By using tadelakt, you can create shiny, waterproof coatings on the walls.
Features of Tadelakt
The main advantage of tadelakt is its resistance to dirt and extremely high resistance to moisture, due to which tadelakt can be used to decorate walls even in bathrooms. Tadelakt also has disinfectant properties, which prevents the development of fungi on the wall. Tadelakt can be painted with almost any available pigment. And what is important, tadelakt is an absolutely natural, natural material.

The disadvantages of this type of plaster include weak resistance to mechanical damage (therefore, tadelakt is not suitable for finishing floors), lack of resistance to fats and acids, and low temperatures.
Application
Tadelakt is usually applied to cement-lime plasters. Tadelakt can also be applied to walls made of cellular concrete, brick, silicate, but in this case a primer made of lime plaster will be required.
The final stage of tadelakt finishing is its long polishing, due to which the characteristic shine of the surface is achieved. It is interesting that this surface takes on different shades depending on the intensity and angle of incidence of light.
Tadelakt mass is very flexible, so it can take various forms. It can be used in the decoration of various architectural elements, such as shelves, furniture, bathtubs, shower trays, pools, vases and lamps.
So, today the old lime plaster from Marrakech is experiencing a renaissance, especially in Europe. And it is not surprising! Now, when there are so many fakes on the market, probably everyone strives to choose a completely organic, natural, and, in addition, very attractive material for wall decoration.
