Bamboo parquet

Bamboo, as a building and finishing material, has a wide range of applications. One of them is an aesthetic and reliable floor covering.

Why bamboo?

Bamboo is a natural, environmentally friendly material. Its use in the interior has a positive effect on creating a healthy atmosphere in the house. Bamboo is particularly resistant to deformation, light and moisture-resistant, so bamboo parquet is extremely durable. Its hardness is higher than that of many traditional types of wood and such flooring can last more than 30 years.

Bamboo parquet provides good sound and heat insulation for rooms, it is easy to process, and, in addition, bamboo is resistant to pests and microorganisms.

Bamboo parquet is a layered pressed structure. The number of bamboo layers in such parquet can reach 5. Bamboo parquet is varnished on top.

In addition to bamboo parquet itself, the market offers a wide range of accessories made from this material – skirting boards, planks, steps, thresholds.

Laying and installation

Bamboo parquet is usually installed using the adhesive method. Before installation, it is recommended to keep bamboo parquet at room temperature for several days without packaging. Bamboo parquet is laid on an even, dry screed. Plywood sheets secured with screws can be used as a base for bamboo parquet.

Installation of bamboo parquet starts from the wall, towards the entrance doors. Parquet glue is used for installation. Parquet planks are fixed through a tongue and groove with nails. A gap of about 10-15 mm is left between the parquet and the wall to prevent swelling of the parquet. After laying the parquet, a break of up to 5 days is maintained before use. Piece bamboo parquet can be laid in a herringbone, square or diamond pattern.

After installing bamboo parquet, it is necessary to install skirting boards. They are also attached with screws. Since bamboo parquet is already produced with a ready-made varnish coating, it does not require additional varnish treatment.

How to care for bamboo flooring?

Although bamboo is a durable and long-lasting flooring, there are still certain maintenance guidelines. Here are some of them:

  • Apply special protective agents to the parquet every two months
  • Maintain the correct humidity level in the premises, it should be 40-60%
  • Washing floors is done with a well-wrung-out cloth.
  • Furniture legs should be lined with felt.
