Ukrainian-style frame house - pros and cons

Frame houses are very different from the buildings traditionally built in Ukraine.
The differences concern almost everything – construction methods, construction timeframes, and operational specifics.

Frame buildings have been erected in Ukraine for quite a few years now, but many of our compatriots still have doubts about this technology.

A special advantage of frame construction is the speed of construction, ease of finishing and reconstruction. As for the durability of frame buildings, practice shows that their operation reaches 50 years without major repairs. However, if you adhere to certain rules when constructing frame buildings, they can last much longer.

First of all, it is necessary to pay attention to the wood used in construction. It is the use of low-quality wood that most often causes the majority of complaints about the technology of frame construction. Thus, for frame construction it is necessary to use wood with a moisture content of no more than 18%, with an absolutely smooth surface and rounded edges.

It is also worth noting that frame houses warm up quickly and also lose heat quickly. The question arises: is the low thermal inertia of a building an advantage or a disadvantage? It all depends on individual preferences. The figures, however, confirm only one thing - frame houses are more economical to operate than brick houses.

Another big advantage of frame houses is the possibility of constructing such buildings in winter. The small thickness of the outer walls allows to save more useful space compared to conventional buildings. For example, a frame house with a total area of 100 m² has 10-12 m² more useful space than a brick house.

Now to the disadvantages. In Ukraine, the tradition of building such houses is practically absent, which means there is a certain shortage of specialists in this field. Meanwhile, frame construction requires a very good knowledge of the technology and strict adherence to the rules. The frame structure does not allow any deviations from the technological regime. When building a frame house, you must strictly adhere to the approved project.
