Stone and wood in the interior
Stone and wood are among the most popular materials used for wall decoration. It is not surprising, because natural stone and wood look very impressive in the interior, and these materials bring a sense of coziness to the house.
After a short period of fascination of designers around the world with plastic and other artificial finishing materials, natural stone and wood are returning to our homes. Modern technologies have made the use and installation of products made of these materials very easy and convenient. The main problem has become the problem of choice. A skillfully selected type of finishing coating, its color, the creation of various combinations from various materials - all this is very important. Therefore, interior design today is a whole art.
Stone
The richness of colors, patterns and textures of natural stone makes this finishing material suitable for use in interiors of any style. Six types of natural stone are usually used as finishing material: marble, sandstone, slate, granite, travertine and limestone.
Marble - the variety of marble textures is caused by the presence of mineral impurities in the material. Marble is beautiful, but over time it fades and wears out. Small cracks may also appear on it. It is best suited for use in bathrooms and kitchens.
Sandstone is easy to process and hardens when dry. Over time, it develops a matte patina. Due to its porosity and easy water absorption, it is not recommended for use in rooms with high humidity. Ideal for the living room.
Slate is a material with a high content of mica and quartz. It can be ground and polished. It is resistant to abrasion, waterproof, and ideal for use in the living room.

Granite - tiles made of this stone are often very large. It is a very durable and waterproof material, so it can be used in "wet" rooms - kitchen, bathroom and hallway. Some designers express the opinion that granite is too "cold" for use in the living room.
Travertine is a very durable, hard limestone. It is a porous material. Decorative types of travertine are usually filled with resin or silicone. Travertine can be polished, so it is often used in kitchens and bathrooms, but sometimes you can find it in the living room.
Limestone - can be used in interiors of various styles, as the material can be ground and polished. Soft limestones are absorbent, absorbing moisture, so their use in the kitchen and bathroom is not recommended.
All these materials can be successfully used in a variety of stylistic solutions – be it high-tech, modern or timeless classic interior design.
Tree
Wood is another material that is often used to decorate interiors. Theoretically, wood will perfectly “fit” into any style, but the most suitable style for it is the “classic” interior design. Previously, in our area, wooden paneling was usually used to decorate the walls of balconies and hallways, but today wood can be used in other rooms as well.

Lining is most often made of pine, spruce, oak and beech. The planks reach 3-4 m in length and 2-10 cm in width. The surface of the planks can be profiled and have various shapes.
Veneer is thin sheets of wood that are glued to plywood or MDF. This allows veneer to be used to cover large surfaces. It is suitable for finishing complex areas, such as rounded corners.
Fornier - is formed by gluing several hundred layers of veneer and then cutting the resulting material perpendicularly. In this way, original decorative effects can be obtained as a result.
If you decide to use wood for wall finishing in rooms with high humidity, such as a kitchen or bathroom, remember that not all types of wood are suitable for this. Exotic types of wood are highly water-resistant - badi, iroko, merbau, sapeli, mahogany, teak, padauk.
In general, how can you be sure? stone and wood find a lot of applications in interior design.
