Half-timbered houses

Half-timbered houses are a kind of calling card of many European countries. Houses in which the wooden frame was open for everyone to see were built mainly in the Middle Ages. Today they are experiencing new popularity.

Modern technologies allow us to build half-timbered houses warm, durable and reliable. The supporting structure of such a house is a wooden frame made of cross beams measuring 140 x 140 mm or 160 x 160 mm. It is these unique “lattices” that give half-timbered houses an original, incomparable appearance. Previously, the space between the frame elements was filled with clay, brick or wood. Today, panels consisting of several layers of wood and insulation are used for this, which provides thermal insulation at the level of U = 0.19 W / (m • K), which often surpasses other construction technologies. At the same time, wall panels are distinguished by high vapor permeability, which makes the walls “breathing”. Clinker bricks were also used in the construction of half-timbered houses.

An important advantage of half-timbered houses is the possibility of fast all-season construction. This means that all work can be done at any time of the year within three months (except for pouring the foundation). The vapor permeability of the walls and the environmental friendliness of natural wood create a special healthy climate in the house.

note that half-timbered houses are built almost entirely from wood. Therefore, special attention should be paid to the need for fire-retardant impregnation of wood. Internal walls can be made using plasterboard with mineral wool insulation.
